Snoop Dogg is hosting the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, and the show is heading back to Los Angeles for the first time since 2017. For Snoop, the gig closes a loop that started in 1994, when he first appeared on the VMA stage. Since then he’s earned 13 nominations and three wins, and he’s called the booking a full-circle moment.
He also pointed to working with Van Toffler, the veteran MTV producer behind some of the show’s biggest moments over the years. Snoop said the VMAs have always been about the moments you don’t forget. Now he gets to help create a few of his own from the host’s chair.
The nomination race adds its own drama. Madonna leads with 11 nods, followed by Taylor Swift with nine, setting up a matchup between two generations of pop royalty. The show airs live from Los Angeles on September 27 across CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. So what do you think: is Snoop the right pick to host, and who are you rooting for, Madonna or Taylor?
