Spotify's New Setting Keeps Kids' Music Out of Your Wrapped and Recommendations

If your year-end Spotify Wrapped looked more like a preschool playlist than your actual taste in music, you’re not alone. Parents everywhere have watched their top songs get hijacked by nursery rhymes, cartoon themes, and movie soundtracks after the kids took over the family account. Spotify finally heard the complaints. The company announced Tuesday, Sept. 15, that it’s rolling out a setting to keep kids and family music from shaping your personal taste profile.

The feature does more than just block future plays. It works retroactively, so all those past streams of“Baby Shark”and Kidz Bop stop counting toward your top songs and your Wrapped recap. Once you switch the setting off, children’s music no longer feeds into your Discover Weekly, Daily Mixes, or any other personalized recommendation. The best part? You don’t lose a thing. Kids’music can still be searched, played, and added to playlists, so the little ones never notice a change.

The setting is turned on by default, which means you have to manually switch it off in Settings under Content and display. It’s rolling out globally on mobile for both Free and Premium users.
