Taylor Swift had a scheduling problem Monday night, and she solved it the way a lot of us would. The Emmy Awards were happening in Los Angeles, but her husband Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs were opening the season against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. She picked the game, and she brought the whole family with her. Her parents, her brother, and Travis’s parents Donna and Ed all filled out the suite, which sounds less like a celebrity outing and more like a Thanksgiving potluck with better parking.

The surprise guest, though, was Tom Cruise, who sat right next to Swift and chatted with her through the game. When the Chiefs scored a touchdown, the two of them shared a hug. According to sportscasters Joe Buck and Greg Olsen, Cruise was also at Swift and Kelce’s July 3 wedding, so this isn’t a random seat assignment. That’s a genuine friendship.

Swift didn’t leave the Emmys completely empty-handed on the appearance front. She pre-taped a Law&Order: SVU sketch with host Mariska Hargitay, while her Eras Tour film picked up five nominations and ultimately lost to a Sabrina Carpenter Muppets special. And for anyone hoping to copy her game-day look, that red-and-white gingham polo dress from Guest in Residence is already sold out. So tell us, would you skip a big fancy night for a football game, or the other way around?
