Sometimes the beach romance just doesn’t survive real life—and that’s exactly what happened with Kylee Russell and Aven Jones.

The Bachelor in Paradise season 9 couple, who first met during the show’s 2023 run, have officially ended things for the last time. During the Tuesday, June 23 episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, 29-year-old Kylee made it clear this chapter is closed:“I’m glad to finally close that chapter. Aven and I are no longer together. I think I’m OK with that, actually, I know I’m OK with that.”She went on to explain that the two are fundamentally incompatible, noting after three years of trying,“We’re just both two very different people who want two very different things in life.”

This isn’t their first rodeo breaking up. The pair initially went their separate ways in December 2023, just weeks after making their relationship public on social media. That debut came with an unexpected twist—Kylee revealed allegations of infidelity in an Instagram post, writing about“one of the most important relationships in my life dissolved due to multiple infidelities.”While Aven never publicly addressed those accusations, he and Kylee gave reconciliation a shot in July 2024. For a while, things looked promising.“In the beginning, he was doing the work,”Kylee recalled months later.“He was going to therapy, ensuring that my move to San Diego went smoothly. He was there for me, he was providing for me, it was great.”But by their one-year anniversary of meeting on the beach, the cracks were already showing. Aven reportedly felt the relationship couldn’t overcome the damage he’d caused, and they split again.

Just when it seemed like their story was truly over, they reconnected in 2025 and even moved in together. For a moment, Kylee envisioned a real future—marriage, kids, the whole picture.“Everything was amazing,”she said.“We moved in together, life was truly starting to unravel, and I saw myself having a future with him, having babies, getting married, doing all the things.”But cohabitation brought reality crashing down. The core issue? Geography and life goals. Kylee is a“big family girl”who loves the East Coast and wants to raise her future children close to her family. Aven, now 32, has built a life in San Diego and wasn’t willing to leave.“That’s a big life decision that we needed to agree on, and unfortunately we just couldn’t come to terms with that,”Kylee explained.

What started as a paradise romance ultimately couldn’t survive the weight of misaligned futures. It’s a sobering reminder that chemistry on a reality TV show and genuine long-term compatibility are two very different things—and sometimes, no amount of therapy or second chances can bridge that gap.
