Tom Cruise Confirms It: He Really Is Intense on Set, And He's Not Apologizing

Tom Cruise has never been shy about doing things the hard way, but in the October issue of GQ he got honest about what it’s like to work with him. The rumors, he said, are true. He’s intense on set. He expects a lot from the people around him, and he’s fine with people knowing it. But he also made it clear that intensity comes with responsibility, saying he feels accountable for everyone working on the production.“Making films is not what I do. It is who I am,”he told the magazine.

Part of what makes the interview interesting is what it reveals about his next movie. In“Digger,”Cruise plays an eccentric billionaire, and he wears gray hair and prosthetics to look older and heavier for the part. Plenty of fans watching the trailer did a double take trying to figure out if it was even him. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu spent ten years preparing the film before bringing it to life, so there’s a lot of care on both sides of the camera.
