Widow's Bay Sweeps the 2026 Emmys With Six Comedy Wins

Widow’s Bay owned the 2026 Primetime Emmys. The Apple TV comedy won Outstanding Comedy Series on September 14, then kept right on winning with Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Writing, and Directing honors. Six major comedy categories, one show.

The field it beat was no joke. Hacks, Abbott Elementary, The Bear, and Only Murders in the Building all went home without the top comedy prize. The one bright spot for the competition was Jean Smart, who won Lead Actress in a Comedy for Hacks, the single major comedy category where Widow’s Bay wasn’t in contention.

Mariska Hargitay hosted the 78th annual ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for the first time. In the winner’s circle, the team behind the show reflected on how meaningful it is that audiences still gather around stories and creators still bring their best to telling them.
