Zachary Levi Calls California a "Failed State," Doubles Down on Texas With $100 Million Studio

Zachary Levi isn’t shy about his feelings toward California. The actor, who grew up out West, recently told Fox News Digital that California is“a failed state”that is“literally and figuratively on fire.”It’s a bold statement from a guy who still says he loves the place. But back in 2017, Levi sold his Los Angeles home and bought a 75-acre ranch outside Austin, Texas, and he hasn’t looked back since.

These days, Levi is putting that Texas land to work. He’s developing Wyldwood Studios, a $100 million film and lifestyle campus in Bastrop County. The first two soundstages are expected to open in 2027. In his own words, Levi says he felt“very compelled by God to go build a better Hollywood,”one owned and operated by artists rather than studio executives. It’s an ambitious vision, and it’s happening far from the Hollywood hills.

Levi is also keeping busy on screen. He stars alongside Liam Neeson in the action thriller“The Fix,”playing a disgraced former CIA operative. The film premiered in theaters Sept. 11. Between the move, the new studio, and a grittier career turn, Levi is writing a whole new chapter for himself.
