On July 22, 2026, Birmingham will make history with the first-ever“Ozzy Day”—a city-wide celebration honoring the rock icon exactly one year after his passing. Organized by Central BID Birmingham, OPUS, and Birmingham City Council, this free event brings together the community, local businesses, and cultural institutions to pay tribute to one of the most influential musicians of all time. From the iconic Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge to the Bullring shopping center, Birmingham’s city center will transform into a celebration of Ozzy’s life, music, and lasting impact on rock and roll.

The day features live performances from the Bostin Brass, the five-piece brass band that performed at Ozzy’s funeral procession, alongside special lunchtime performances by musicians from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Fans will have the chance to collect limited-edition merchandise featuring Ozzy’s farewell concert graphic and listing all 52 concerts he performed in Birmingham throughout his career. The Birmingham Music Archive will be at New Street Station gathering fan memories and stories, which will be added to a commemorative guestbook that preserves the impact he had on his community. Even local brewery Hobsons is getting involved, launching a special“Patient Number 9”Golden Ale to mark the occasion.

What makes this tribute so meaningful is how it reflects Ozzy’s deep connection to his hometown. He never forgot where he came from, and Birmingham never forgot him either. This celebration shows what happens when a community truly honors a legend who changed the course of music history. Were you ever inspired by Ozzy’s music, or do you have a favorite memory from his career?
