Veterans have served us well, and now it’s our turn to give back! Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento has stepped up in a big way, launching a heartwarming initiative on Veterans Day to help veterans with much-needed home repairs. One such veteran, Shanika Powell, found herself in a bind, needing help with her fence but facing looming costs. Thankfully, dedicated volunteers showed up to lend a hand and tackle what she thought would be a never-ending project.
The generous support of the Air Warrior Courage Foundation made this wonderful gesture possible, along with a crew from Child Action who brought the tools and spirit of community together. Imagine more than a dozen people gathering just to assist one of our heroes! This project didn’t just help with home repairs; it reminded all involved that service isn’t just a duty—it’s a lifelong commitment. It’s proof that while a life of service may start in uniform, it continues long after.
As the volunteers roll up their sleeves and dig into this important work, one can’t help but feel a sense of pride and joy. Everyone wins when we support those who’ve given so much. So, what’s one way you think we can further honor our veterans in our everyday lives? Let’s keep the conversation going!
